INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE AND FAIR 
„DEVELOPMENT POTENTIALS OF BORDER REGIONS OF SERBIA AND BULGARIA" IN SOKO BANJA 

Within the framework of “Neighbourhood Program Bulgaria – Serbia 2004” implemented by Bulgarian Ministry of Regional Development and Public Works (PHARE) as well as by European Agency for Reconstruction and Serbian Ministry of International Economic Relations (CARDS), Center for civil society development PROTECTA will organize International Conference and Fair “Development potentials of border regions of Serbia and Bulgaria”. The conference that is realized within the project “Capacity building for cross-border exchange and cooperation of small and medium enterprises from districts of Nisava, Pirot, Jablanica and Pcinja and district of Montana” will be organized in Soko Banja from November 10 – 11 2007.

This final project activity will consist of two segments. The first segment will be the International Conference that will be organized within the premises of the Conference Hall of Hotel “Zdravljak” in Soko Banja on November 10 2007 starting from 15.00h. Apart from the representatives of legal entities from border regions, the Conference will also be attended by representatives of institutions of local, regional and national economic development.

After the Conference, on November 11 2007 starting from 12.00h, the big Hall of Hotel “Zdravljak” will be the site of organization of the Fair that will be the opportunity for 90 representatives from Nisava, Jablanica, Pcinja and Pirot districts on Serbian side and districts of Montana on Bulgarian side to present their scope of activities.

The Conference and the Fair will serve the purpose of establishing connections of business world of Serbia and Bulgaria with the aim of improving cross-border economic cooperation and creating the basis for sustainable development of the above-mentioned border regions.

EXPERT TEAM MEETING IN MONTANA

On Thursday and Friday, October 04 – 05 2007 in Montana (Bulgaria) the expert team meeting was held. The expert team was complete and tackled the topic of: Benefits and possibilities of cooperation of small and medium enterprises in the border region of Serbia and Bulgaria, as well as answers to questions raised by SME representatives. Expert and project team members met with the chief and deputy chief of Montana district, representatives of Bulgarian Economic Forum as well as of other institutions and media.

LOCAL MEETING OF BUSINESSMEN FROM PCINJA DISTRICT

Local PROTECTA office in Vranje and its project coordinators organized local meeting of representatives of small and medium enterprises from Pcinja district on Friday, September 28 2007. The meeting gathered 13 SME and aimed at introducing them with realized activities, further project plans and providing suggestions related to the organization of regional meeting and international conference of SME from Bulgaria and Serbia.

LOCAL MEETING OF BUSINESSMEN FROM PIROT DISTRICT

Local PROTECTA office in Pirot and its project coordinators organized local meeting of representatives of small and medium enterprises from Pirot district on Wednesday, September 26 2007 within the premises of Pirot district. The meeting gathered 15 SME and aimed at introducing them with realized activities, further project plans and providing suggestions related to the organization of regional meeting and international conference of SME from Bulgaria and Serbia.

LOCAL MEETING OF BUSINESSMEN FROM NISAVA DISTRICT

On Thursday, June 14th 2007 at 12:00 within the premises of Media Center Nis the meeting of businessmen from Nisava district was held. The meeting was the perfect opportunity to promote the project, introduce the businessmen with activities and further plans and present the website smenet.biz. The meeting also served the purpose of introduction of businessmen from Nisava district to one another.

THE FIRST MEETING OF THE EXPERT TEAM

On April 24th 2007 within the premises of Media Center Nis, the first meeting of the expert team was held. The meeting was attended by six members of the expert team (3 members from Serbia and 3 from Bulgaria). The meeting aimed at introduction of the team members to one another and their introduction with the project. CVs of the members of the expert
